Artist Robin Satterthwaite is inspired by dance, literature, music and the ethereal elements of the natural world around her. She and her family make their home in the woods along the shores of Lake Michigan where Robin’s artistic talents have been cherished and applauded by hundreds of enthusiastic supporters throughout the years. As director of a children’s ballet company, Robin has been the creative force behind dozens of original dance productions – where her signature style of elegance and whimsy were always evident her creations and roles as storyteller, choreographer, staging director and costume designer.

Robin brings that same graceful originality to each piece of jewelry and art she creates for Robin Goodfellow Design. Her natural choreography governs the careful placement and interplay of each rhinestone, pearl, glass, crystal and metal bead. Each piece holds within it joy, dance and laughter.

Growing up in Dallas Texas, Robin’s life was infused with art. Many of her childhood days were spent playing in the rehearsal halls of the Dallas Civic Opera where her mother worked as the Italian interpreter. Her father, owner of an art gallery and brilliant classical pianist would lull Robin and her sisters to sleep or gently wake them the refrain of his beautiful piano playing. Her own studies include youthful years of ballet and music leading to choreography, costume design, poetry, painting and jewelry making as an adult. Robin credits the indelible threads of her rich upbringing to her deep love of theater, art and music.

Robin says that creating jewelry is expressing love and laughter. She is proud to present the 2009 Strings line of jewelry created with a dedication to recycling and sharing in ways that are simple, meaningful, deliberate and, as always in her art, ethereal.
